Peacemaker Season 2 (2025)
My Review
Peacemaker Season 2 Review: More Insane, More Heartbreaking, and More Multiversal
My Take:
Just when I thought Peacemaker couldn’t possibly get any more chaotic or emotionally raw, Season 2 dives headfirst into the multiverse and turns everything up to eleven. This season is a brilliant continuation that builds upon the surprisingly deep character work of the first, while throwing our broken hero into a mind-bending new reality. It skillfully balances world-ending stakes with the deeply personal tragedy of Christopher Smith, a man so desperate for connection he’s willing to break the universe to find it. It’s a loud, bloody, hilarious, and often heartbreaking ride that I absolutely loved.
The Highs: What I Liked:
The show’s take on the multiverse is what truly sets this season apart. Instead of using it for cheap cameos, the writers use it as a haunting mirror for Peacemaker. His journey into an alternate reality where a version of himself is happy and in love with Harcourt is a tragic and compelling core for the season. I found his struggle with what his life could have been to be a far more interesting conflict than any generic world-ending threat.
Of course, the signature elements are all still here. The action is somehow even more brutal and inventive—a bar fight involving Emilia Harcourt early in the season is an absolute all-timer that proves she is one of the most formidable characters in the DCU. The dark, bizarre humor is also as sharp as ever, with Vigilante and Peacemaker’s strange interactions providing a perfect, off-kilter counterbalance to the heavy emotional themes. The introduction of Rick Flag Sr. as a primary antagonist was a stroke of genius, creating a threat that is both powerful and deeply personal to Peacemaker’s journey.
A Minor Critique:
If there’s a slight stumble, it’s that the season’s multiverse logic and numerous subplots can occasionally feel a bit convoluted. The show throws so many new concepts at the wall—from pocket dimensions and government conspiracies to alternate timelines—that it sometimes borders on overwhelming. While it all comes together in the end, I felt the first couple of episodes required some extra focus to keep all the moving parts straight.
Final Verdict:
Peacemaker Season 2 is a phenomenal success. It’s a rare sequel that not only lives up to the original but deepens its themes and expands its world in a meaningful way. It’s a story that proves you can have insane action, laugh-out-loud comedy, and a genuinely heartbreaking character study all in the same show. The season is a testament to the idea that even in a multiverse of infinite possibilities, the search for a simple, human connection is the most powerful story of all.
An absolute must-watch for fans of Season 1. It’s bigger, bolder, and somehow, even more full of heart. Final Score: 9.0/10
